Why We Need To Stay In Africa!

Over the years, Teresa and I have had the privilege of traveling to Africa many times. Every trip has impacted us deeply.

We’ve seen the hunger people have for God. We’ve seen churches filled with people eager to learn, worship, pray, and grow in their faith. We’ve seen leaders faithfully serving in difficult circumstances with very little support. We’ve seen lives changed by the power of God.

But over time, we also realized something important:

Real transformation takes time.

You can visit for a week.
You can preach a few messages.
You can encourage people and pray for them.

But if you truly want to build something that lasts, eventually you have to stay.

That realization has been one of the driving forces behind the decision Teresa and I recently made.

We are committing one full year to Africa, with a goal of leaving sometime before the end of January 2027.

We’ll be based in Nyarombo, Kenya, where we’ll continue developing the transformation center, strengthening the church, discipling leaders, and helping establish something that can continue impacting lives long into the future.

As I prayed about this decision, the Lord put the book of Nehemiah on my heart.

Nehemiah didn’t simply visit Jerusalem and leave. He carried a burden to rebuild what had been broken. He stayed long enough to establish something that would remain.

And even though there was opposition, resistance, and challenges, the work continued because the burden was bigger than the difficulty.

That speaks deeply to us.

Every time we’ve gone to rural Africa, we’ve seen tremendous spiritual hunger. But we’ve also seen the challenges. There is a real need for strong discipleship, consistent teaching, leadership development, and long-term investment into people and communities.

That’s why we feel this is the season to go deeper.

This next step isn’t just about travel. It’s about commitment.

It’s about building something that lasts.

As part of this next season, we are also building a team of 100 monthly partners who will help make this mission possible. These partners will help provide the stability needed for us to spend a full year on the ground investing into leaders, churches, and communities throughout the region.

And we’re incredibly grateful for every person who has prayed for us, encouraged us, and supported this mission along the way. We truly believe this next season will only be possible because people choose to stand with us.

As we go—you’re going with us.
